1、 Operation
1. Press the ON button to turn on the power. The display screen will flash steadily and then show within the range of 00.0 ± 0.3 (with the tree species selected in any gear). After pressing the ON button, the power will automatically cut off for about 60 seconds, allowing the battery to have a longer usage time for self-protection.
Tip: After pressing the ON button several times, the display screen of the measuring instrument still shows blurry or no numbers, indicating that the 9V battery has been depleted. Please replace the battery.
2. When turned on, if the LCD screen does not display within the range of 00.0 ± 0.3, please adjust and correct the zero position. Clockwise is a positive value, counterclockwise is a negative value.
3. Due to the electromagnetic wave penetration depth of the MCG-100W induction type wood moisture meter being 30mm, when the thickness of the measured wood is less than 30mm, the wooden board should be suspended for measurement or stacked for measurement. The stacked thickness must not be less than 30mm.
4. When adjusting the tree species selection switch, if the correction knob on the left side of the instrument cannot make the display zero, you can carefully adjust the adjustment knob in the hole on the right side of the instrument in a straight line, clockwise is a positive value, counterclockwise is a negative value.
2、 Measurement
The MCG-100W instrument utilizes Harris large-scale integrated circuit technology from the United States to ensure high sensitivity and accuracy in measuring wood moisture. Even slight changes in moisture content can be reflected by the instrument. Therefore, it is a highly accurate wood moisture meter.
To adapt to the measurement of different densities of wood, a tree species selection switch with 6 levels is set at the top of the hygrometer. Please adjust according to the following levels.

When using, please place the bottom of the instrument flat on the wood being tested. The surface of the wood must be smooth, otherwise measurement errors may occur.
If the moisture content of the tested wood is uneven, multiple points can be measured and the average value can be calculated to obtain the average moisture content.
Tip: 1. The instrument should measure in the direction of the wood fibers.
2. The surface of the wood should be flat.
3. The sensor of this instrument is located in the box at the bottom of the instrument (concealed type), with dimensions of 45mm in length and 44mm in width. Therefore, the surface of the detected wood should be larger than the surface of the sensor.
4. There should be no other objects around the detected wood, such as iron or magnetic sensors. Otherwise, the measurement results will be inaccurate.
5. The electromagnetic wave penetration depth of this instrument is 30mm, so when the thickness of the detected wood is less than 30mm, it should be measured in suspension. Otherwise, the electromagnetic waves scanning the moisture on the ground will affect the measurement results.

4、 Measurement of wood without listed tree species grades
First, measure several specimens with balanced moisture content as much as possible at the six positions of the tree species selection switch, and record the measurement results for each position. Then, the moisture content of the specimen is determined using the dry balance weight method. The position where the minimum deviation occurs in the dry balance weight method measurement corresponding to the tree species selection switch can be used for future determination of the selected tree species.
